Steve, our Head Assessor at Spark-Risk, has just done some more work for the national chain of Care Homes we look after, a Fire Risk Assessment. This one was in Worcester, a 35 bed nursing home, so Steve paid a visit after the management called to say they'd had an Enforcement Notice issued by the local Fire Service, Hereford & Worcester FRS. The problems that were apparent were that there were no seals of any type on the bedroom fire doors, their signage was out of date, and there were no Evacuation Aids present, which obviously may pose a problem in the case of an emergency. Spark-Risk's fully comprehensive reports gave the recommendations to the home's management as to what they needed to do in order to achieve compliance to the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, and also avoid further intervention from the Fire authorities, and we as a company are helping them along with their rectifications.
